London Marathon 2019
On Sunday 28th April 2019 one of our physios’, Sarah will be running the London Marathon.
Running this particular race is something Sarah has always wanted to do & luckily this year she got her place and is training hard! To make sure she can run to the best of her ability and get the quickest time she can, Sarah, is working from a training programme and following it to the letter where possible, however she has had to be flexible due to snow, illness & injury!
‘‘Each week I have been doing one long run, gradually building up to 22 miles. One run as fast as I can, keeping the pace for 7 miles. One slow plod around Lyme Park, one session of mile reps, increasing the reps each week and one core session.
I prepare for my long runs by eating lots of cake the night before, lots of carbs. During the run I have gels to keep up my glucose levels because when you run for more than 90 mins your glucose stores run out and you feel exhausted. I also carry water and have sips every 20 mins through the whole run as keeping hydrated is vital!
All of this hard work will hopefully pay off on the day. I just have to keep everything crossed now & try and achieve my goal of a sub 4hr time’’
We hope you’ll join us in wishing Sarah all the best. Good luck!!!
