Fountain Square Physio are proud to introduce the newest member to our team. Great Britain representative & Elite MTB mountain bike racer, Sharn Hooper. Sharn will be available for 1:1 based pilates, spinning as well as all manner of MSK Physiotherapy.
We are very excited to welcome Sharn to the practice. Her elite sporting achievements give Sharn an up to date knowledge of the stresses the body has to endure during training and competition so we know she’ll be a great asset to have on the team.
I graduated from the University of Plymouth with a first class honours in BSc (hons) Physiotherapy in 2018. My first physiotherapy role involved working at Derriford hospital in Plymouth, in both the older person rehab team, and medical respiratory wards.
I soon decided to follow my true passion in Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy and so moved to Portsmouth to work in a static MSK post in a busy NHS outpatients department.
I learnt a great deal within this role, working alongside very experienced clinicians and specialist physiotherapists.
I am very passionate about MSK physiotherapy, and continually developing my skills in this area, making the most of all professional development opportunities such as attending various physio conferences and courses.
I have also completed the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) Mat work series course level 1&2 which enables me to deliver physiotherapy led Pilates sessions on a one to one and class basis.
I am also currently studying to be a cycling coach through the Association of British Cycling Coaches (ABCC) programme.
I take great pleasure in enabling people to realise their protentional and achieve their goals, whether that be rehab or sporting orientated.
Team GB Cyclist
When I’m not working I am training and racing as an elite mountain bike racer and have recently signed for a women’s and youth development mountain bike race team.
As the senior racer in this team I hope to be able to offer my support, advice and experience to inspire the next generation of female riders; something I am very passionate about.
In 2019 I was 5th elite female in the national XC MTB series and am currently rank 6th nationally. I also represented Great Britain in the MTB marathon world championships in Switzerland in September 2019.
Prior to this I took part in triathlon and duathlon for many years and have represented Great Britain at AG level in Cross duathlon and triathlon European and World Championship events winning Bronze, Silver and Gold.
I have also competed in many other endurance events including various cycling discipline stage races and Ironman distance triathlons.
