Physiotherapy

What do Physiotherapists do?

Physio Treatment

The job of a physiotherapist is to assist the patient in returning to their normal physical function – whatever that may be.

It can involve treating a professional athlete to ensure a full and early return to competition or helping an elderly person to regain independence at home.

The skills a physiotherapist requires are as varied as the conditions they see.

At Fountain Square Physio we have a team that covers all possible conditions.  There are therapists specialising in paediatrics to those used to treating professional footballers.

Amongst other conditions, we treat:

  • Spinal pain
  • Joint disease and injury
  • Sports injuries
  • Neurological conditions such as strokes and head injuries
  • Chest condition

Sporting Injuries

Some sporting injuries result from a single incident, but other causes include a failure to warm up adequately, using equipment incorrectly, poor technique, repetitive movements or training too hard. Continuing with the activity without investigating the cause of the problem and treating the injury appropriately can lead to further problems.

Assist Recovery

Following a surgical procedure such as a hip or knee replacement, muscle or tendon repair, ligament reconstruction or fracture repair of the foot, ankle or shoulder, physiotherapy has shown to help patients recover and regain strength much quicker in the affected part of the body. By using gentle manipulation of the affected joints and muscles, using a carefully constructed rehabilitation programme.

Skilled Treatment

Our team of dedicated and skilled professionals are committed to providing you with the very best care in identifying and treating all types of sporting injuries. We are passionate about helping our clients to achieve their sporting goals and will work with you to ensure a positive outcome with minimum risk of a recurrence.

Fountain Square Physio

At Fountain Square we work with you to identify the problem and provide a range of treatments designed to help you return to your former fitness levels as quickly as possible.

Whether you are suffering from joint problems, sprains, strains or muscle tears, we offer a range of solutions to aid your recovery and to prevent re-occurrence of the injury.

From a simple sprain through to a major rupture and even post-operative therapy, we can get you back to optimum fitness and participating in your sport again as quickly as possible.

Joints and Muscles

Many sports place severe strain on particular joints and muscles thanks to their repetitive nature. Whether you play golf, tennis, football or rugby, train in track events or take part in horse riding activities, we can help to relieve pain and devise exercise programmes to strengthen muscles to prevent future problems.

Monitoring Systems

The sophisticated monitoring systems we use at Fountain Square can quickly identify problem areas and monitor your progress throughout the treatment program. In this way you can learn how to train your body to move more appropriately in order to minimise the risk of future injuries and make the most of your sporting activities in safety.

Movement Analysis

Our movement analysis and foot scan technology allow us to identify problem areas which place undue strain on joints and muscle groups. Working with the results of these technologies, we can ascertain the cause of an injury and help to develop specific targeted exercise programs to counteract these imbalances.

Get the Right Treatment

Whilst some minor injuries such as bruises, grazes and blisters can be simply and easily treated at home, many sporting injuries require treatment and investigation to ensure that adequate healing takes place. Our range of treatments includes massage, acupuncture, mobilisation, electrotherapy, manipulation and targeted exercises to help the body return to full function.
