What is the meaning of lyengar yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is based on the ancient method of yoga practice, known for centuries to improve the health of the body and mind.
It is a precise method of practice to encourage alignment and strength in the body, and calmness in the mind.
BKS Iyengar developed methods to support the benefits of yoga to body and health. It aligns well with other forms of treatment including physiotherapy, and in particular to support other sports and activities.
Iyengar Yoga teachers go through an extensive training to teach yoga with an understand the anatomy of the body, and learn how to teach yoga safely for different ages and levels of experience
Classes at Fountain Square are small, which means individual support can be given. All equipment is provided.

Darel Turney – Monday 6.30 – 7.30pm
Darel has been practicing Iyengar yoga for over 25 years and teaching since 2006.
Darel is an experienced level 2 teacher. He teaches classes to beginners and improvers of all abilities and ages, with a style to make everyone feel at ease and able to progress to their true level.

Rebecca Baron – Tuesday 5-6pm
Rebecca has been an Iyengar yoga student since 2003 and recognised very early on the beneficial effects it had on her both physically and mentally.
Rebecca was a GP in Stockport until 2016 and continues to work in education for GPs in the north west, where she focuses on leadership and resilience work.
Rebecca is a walker, gardener and skier, and recognises how well yoga supports other activities. She qualified as a level 1 yoga teacher in 2020, and is working towards her next level as a teacher.
